From 1994 to 1998, Irakli Dolaberidze graduated with honors from the Georgian State Academy of Physical Education and Sport, specializing in Physical Education and Sport.
He received a coaching qualification in Karate and simultaneously studied Sports Journalism.
During his student years, he was one of the founders of the Academy’s student self-governance organization.
Later, he continued his studies at the Georgian Open Humanitarian University, where he also graduated with honors in Finance and Credit and was awarded the qualification of Financial Manager.
From 1998 to 2001, he pursued postgraduate studies at the Academy of Physical Education and Sport.
From 2005 to 2006, he completed a specialization in Sports Psychology at Leipzig University in Germany. He also participated in the TACIS Civil Servant College project, which included courses in Market Economy, Information Systems, Tax Administration, Management, and Law.
In 2004–2005, he studied at the Tbilisi School of Political Studies, where the curriculum focused on Human Rights and Civil Society issues.
Since 2000, he has been working at the Georgian State Academy of Physical Education and Sport, holding various positions, including Senior Lecturer of the Department, Head of the Master’s and Doctoral Programs, Head of the Development Department, and in 2006, he was elected Chancellor.
From 2002 to 2003, he worked as an invited specialist in the Parliament of Georgia’s Committee on Education, Science, Culture, and Sport.
From 2010 to 2011, he was a member of the Scientific-Consultative Council under the Committee on Sport and Youth Affairs and served as a sports expert.
From 2012 to 2022, Irakli Dolaberidze headed the Sports Department within several ministries: the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, the Ministry of Culture and Sport, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, and finally the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Youth.
Since 2024, he has been a member of the Executive Committee of the Georgian National Olympic Committee.
Since 2014, he has been working at the University of Sport as an Associate Professor. In May 2023, he was elected Dean of the Faculty of Coaching.
In 1997, he won the Republican Student Scientific Conference. In 1999–2000, he was awarded the Presidential Scholarship and received a grant.
Since 1997, he has published multiple scientific works in various journals and authored several newspaper articles.
His sports career in Karate began in 1992. He is a multiple-time Georgian champion, international tournament medalist, member of the national team, and a participant in the 1999 World Championship in Tokyo.
He holds a black belt with a 3rd Dan ranking and has experience as an international referee and coach.
He was named the best coach of the Academy of Sport from 2004 to 2006.
In 2014, he was awarded the title of Honored Coach of Georgia in Contact Karate.
Since 2016, he has been a board member of the European Karate Organization and represents Georgia in the international federation.
He was also one of the organizers of the European Karate Championships held in Tbilisi in 2016 and 2021.
He participated as an official delegate of Georgia in the Rio de Janeiro (2016) and Tokyo (2021) Olympic Games, and the PyeongChang (2018) Winter Paralympic Games.
