Zaza Japaridze

Education

Zaza Japaridze graduated from the Faculty of Journalism at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University in 1982.
In 2016, he was awarded the academic degree of Doctor of Social Sciences (PhD).

Work Experience

He began his professional career before becoming a student, in June 1976. His academic and lecturing activities started in April 1984.
He worked at the Faculty of Journalism at TSU, starting as a junior laboratory assistant at the Scientific-Research and Educational-Practical Laboratory for Current Issues of Modern Georgian Journalism (the latest name after several renamings). He progressed through all academic positions without interruption and served as head of the laboratory during the last three years, up until August 2007.
Since then, he has primarily worked at the Free University of Tbilisi, and in parallel at Ilia State University and the University “Rvali” in Rustavi.
Since May 2014, he has been an assistant professor at the Georgian State Teaching University of Physical Education and Sport, where he lectures the academic discipline “Foundations of International Sports Diplomacy” and serves as the head of this field.
Since November 2016, he has held the position of Associate Professor in the same field.

Additional Information

He is a USSR Master of Sports in weightlifting, an Honored Coach of the Georgian SSR, a national and international category referee in athletics, and a Meritorious Worker of Sport of Georgia.
