In 1991, Tina Oniani graduated from Ilia Chavchavadze State Institute of Foreign Languages (Iliauni) with a 5-year Master’s degree in English and Russian languages.
In the same year, she also completed a degree in Tour Guiding and Interpretation at the Faculty of Humanities of the same institute.
In 1999, she completed her doctoral studies at the Georgian Technological University and, by the decision of the Dissertation Council, was awarded a PhD in English Language Studies under the Faculty of Humanities.
In 1991, she began her career as the head of the English language circle and senior teacher at Kindergarten No. 204 in Tbilisi.
From 1992 to 1995, she worked as an Assistant Professor of English at Public School No. 105 and later at School No. 179.
Since 1995, she has been a member and trainer of the English Teachers’ Association of Georgia (ETAG).
From 1996 to 2002, she worked as a tour guide-interpreter for the U.S. Embassy-affiliated travel company “Guda” in Georgia.
From 2000 to 2013, she worked as an affiliated Associate Professor of English at the Georgian Technological-Humanitarian Institute.
She was twice elected as a member of the Scientific Council and Head of the Department of Foreign Languages.
From 2016 to 2020, she was an invited Professor of English at the University of Humanities.
In 2010, she was elected as a corresponding member of the Academy of Technological-Humanitarian Sciences, and since 2014 has been an academician of the same academy.
Since 2014, she has also been an academician of the Multi-Profile Academy of Sciences named after J. Lejava.
Since 2022, she has been a member of the Phazisi Academy and heads its International Relations Department.
Since 2014, she has been working at the Georgian State University of Physical Education and Sport as an affiliated Full Professor. She has twice been elected as the Head of the Department of Georgian and Foreign Languages and twice as a member of the University Council.
From 2014 to 2025, Tina Oniani has been the Head of the Bachelor’s and Master’s Programs in English Language at the Georgian State University of Physical Education and Sport.
She has published three English grammar textbooks in Georgian (2016–2020) and one in English (1999). She is also the author of a supplementary textbook titled A Brief History of Georgian Art and Culture, published at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland.
She has published about 75 scientific articles in the field of English for Specific Purposes (ESP), about 10 of which were featured in leading international scientific journals such as SCOPUS, EBSCO, IMPACT, etc.
Since 2018, she has completed both online webinars and in-person subject-specific training and is a certified trainer in English Language and Literature. Specific certifications include TOEFL-MASTERS, TESOL, ICT, TEACH-DAVE MASTER CLASS-TRAINER.
She holds over 37 certificates in foreign language teaching and professional development.
She is a member of ERASMUS+ NEO-IN-GEORGIA.
In 2017, she was invited to The Art University in California, USA.
From 1995 to 1999, she served as an Associate Professor, and since 2000, she has been a Full Professor.
