In 1997, Ekaterine Khurtsidze graduated from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University with a Bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Biology and Medicine, earning the qualification of a biology and chemistry teacher.
In 1999, she was awarded a Master’s degree in Biology with a specialization in Biochemistry. In 2006, she obtained the academic degree of Candidate of Biological Sciences (equivalent to Ph.D.) in Biochemistry.
From 1997 to 2006, Ekaterine Khurtsidze worked as a research associate at the Laboratory of Biologically Active Compounds at the Medico-Biological Scientific Research Center “Neobios.”
From 2010 to 2015, she was an invited lecturer at the Faculty of Sports at Ilia State University.
Since 2010, she has been serving as an invited lecturer at the Department of Biology, Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
Since 2013, she has also been an invited lecturer at the Faculty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Geomedi Teaching University.
Since 2014, she has been working as an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Georgian State Teaching University of Physical Education and Sport.
Ekaterine Khurtsidze has published 28 scientific papers in high-ranking international journals.
She has presented at 33 local and international scientific conferences.
She has participated in 7 scientific grant-funded projects.
Since 2013, she has been a member of the Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS) and the Association of Georgian Biochemists (AGB).
Since 2015, she has been a member of the editorial board of the scientific-practical journal Forestry Bulletin.
From 2012 to 2019, she served as a coach-teacher for the Georgian national team at the International Biology Olympiad (IBO). She was a jury member at the 26th and 27th International Olympiads (2015 – Aarhus, Denmark; 2016 – Hanoi, Vietnam).
She has received 12 certificates for participation in professional seminars and trainings; 2 diplomas for best research in the field of biotechnology; multiple diplomas and awards for achievements at international conferences; the Soros Prize for winning the International Conference for Postgraduates, and a Soros International Educational Program scholarship.
In 2019, she participated as a trainer in the retraining programs for physical education teachers and coaches from public and sports schools in the Adjara region.
