In 2007, Mariam Kilanava graduated from Sokhumi State University with a degree in English Philology.
In 2013, she earned her Master’s degree in Translation Studies from St. Andrew the First-Called Georgian University.
In 2015, she was awarded a PhD in the same field.
Since 2022, Mariam Kilanava has served as an expert in the accreditation of higher education programs at the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement.
Since 2014, she has been teaching general and specialized English courses at European University, where she holds the position of Associate Professor.
From 2019 to 2020, she led the Training Center for Innovative Teaching Methods.
From 2020 to 2021, she was Director of the English Language Center.
She has been a certified trainer since 2019 and also collaborated with the American Councils that same year.
Between 2012 and 2014, she taught BA and MA courses in Translation Theory and Practice, as well as Georgian as a Foreign Language, at St. Andrew the First-Called Georgian University.
During that period, she also worked as a preparatory instructor for international English language exams at the English language center “Seven Steps to Success.”
Since 2022, she has been an affiliated Associate Professor at the State University of Physical Education and Sport of Georgia.
Since 2017, she has been a member of IATEFL (International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language, UK).
Mariam Kilanava holds professional certificates in TEFL Masters (Level 4) and TESOL.
She has participated as a speaker in various international (UK, Israel) and local conferences and has published around 20 academic papers both in Georgia and abroad.
She has received over 80 certificates related to foreign language teaching and professional development from local and international institutions.
Through the ERASMUS+ program, she was involved in a curriculum development project in higher education in Georgia and Israel.
In 2019, she successfully completed training in modern teaching methodologies in Canterbury, UK, and in 2016 she undertook professional development courses in London.
From 2019 to 2022, she served as a trainer and expert in the ERASMUS+ Jean Monnet project.
In 2022, she delivered a one-week lecture course in Sofia, Bulgaria, as part of an ERASMUS+ project.
She is the co-author and translator of a supplementary textbook developed within the framework of an international project.
