In 1985, he graduated from the Georgian Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
In 1991, he graduated from the Georgian Academy of Physical Education and Sport.
From 1977 to 1990, he played rugby for “Lokomotivi” Tbilisi. He became a bronze medalist in the USSR Championship (1978, 1981), Cup winner (1978), Youth USSR Champion (1980), multiple-time Champion and Cup winner of Georgia. He was a member of the USSR Youth National Team (1978) and of the USSR National Team (1981).
From 1991 to 1997, he taught rugby specialization at the Georgian Academy of Physical Education and Sport.
From 1996 to 2000, he was the head coach of the Ministry of Defence rugby club “Army.” At the same time, he led the Georgian U-19 national team. He was awarded the title of Meritorious Coach of Georgia and became a world prizewinner and World Champion in different age groups (1998, Toulouse, France, Group B).
In 2001, he was the head coach of the Batumi “Bears,” becoming a silver medalist and Georgian Cup winner.
In 2002, again leading Batumi “Bears,” he won the Georgian Championship and Cup. He was head coach of the Adjara regional team and became a bronze medalist in the European Regional Championship. He was named Best Coach of Adjara.
In 2003, he was recognized as the Best Referee in Rugby.
In 2004, he was again the head coach of Batumi “Bears,” achieving third place in the Georgian Championship.
In 2005, he was head coach of the Georgian U-20 national team, becoming European Champion (Valladolid, Spain). He was named Best Coach of Georgia and awarded the Medal of Honor.
In 2006, he became head coach of the Czech U-20 national team and became European Champion in Group C (Prague, Czech Republic).
From 2006 to 2008, he led the Czech National Rugby Team.
In 2008, he was head coach of the Czech club “Sparta,” taking third place in the Czech Championship.
In 2009, he was head coach of “Batumi-15,” winning the silver medal in the Georgian Championship.
In 2010, he led the Georgian U-18 national team to third place in the European Championship (Venice, Italy). That same year, he was head coach of “Kochebi,” taking third place in the National Championship, winning the Rugby 7s Championship and the international “Black Sea Cup.”
In 2011, he again coached the U-18 national team, which placed third in the European Championship (Tarbes, France), and led “Kochebi” to the Georgian Cup final.
From 2012 to 2013, he was head coach of club “Batumi,” finishing third in Rugby 7s.
In 2014, he worked as assistant coach for the Polish club “Budowlani” (Łódź), which took third place.
In 2015, he led Rustavi’s “Kharebi,” which finished fifth in the top league and became Rugby 7s Champion.
In 2016, he coached the Rustavi “Kharebi” second team, which became Georgian Champion.
From 2016 to 2017, he was elected Assistant Professor at the State Teaching University of Physical Education and Sport of Georgia, specializing in rugby.
In 2018, by decision of the university election commission, he was appointed Head of the Department of Sports Games.
In 2019, he was elected a member of the university’s Representative Council.
In 2020, he participated in the university conference with the topic – Problems of Georgian Rugby.
In 2021, he led the rugby club “SportUni.”
In 2022, by decision of the university election commission, he was reappointed Head of the Department of Sports Games.
In 1999, he was awarded the title of Meritorious Coach of Georgia in Rugby.
