In 1970, Liana Kakiashvili graduated from the Georgian State Institute of Physical Culture and was awarded the qualification of pedagogue.
In 1982, she graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tartu and was awarded the qualification of medical doctor.
In 2008, she earned a PhD in Medicine after defending her dissertation at the Faculty of Sports Medicine and Therapeutic Physical Culture at Petre Shotadze Tbilisi Medical Academy.
From 1997 to 2007, Liana Kakiashvili worked as a Senior Lecturer at the Georgian State Academy of Physical Culture and Sport.
In 2007, she was a visiting lecturer at Ilia Chavchavadze State University.
Since 2007, she has been a visiting lecturer in physiology at Tbilisi State Medical University.
Since 2014, she has been a professor at the State University of Sport of Georgia, specializing in human and sports physiology.
Since 2010, she has been a member of the Sports Medicine Association.
She has published 28 scientific papers in the field of sports physiology and is the co-author of the book Theory and Methodology of Fitness (2017).
