Education

In 1983, Maia Chkhartishvili graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Tbilisi State Medical Institute.
In 1984, she was awarded the qualification of General Practitioner (Therapist).
In 2002, she defended her dissertation at Tbilisi State Medical University and was awarded the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences, which since 2004 is equivalent to a PhD in Medicine.

Work Experience

From 1983 to 1984, she completed her internship at the Republican Hospital and Tbilisi City Polyclinic No. 26.
From 1989 to 1995, she worked as a general practitioner at Emergency Medical Service Branch No. 3 in Tbilisi.
From 1992 to 2001, she held the position of Senior Lecturer at the Department of Sports Medicine at the Georgian State Institute of Physical Culture.
From 2002 to 2007, she was Associate Professor in the Medical-Biological Department at the Georgian Academy of Physical Education and Sport.
From 2007 to 2011, she worked as an Associate Professor at the Department of Physical Medicine at Tbilisi Medical University.
Since 2014, she has been a Professor at the State University of Sport of Georgia.

Additional Information

She has published 31 scientific papers.
From 2004 to 2017, she was a member of the Sports Medicine Association.
In 2007, she received an award from the Georgian Sports Medicine Association for her contribution to the development of sports medicine in Georgia.
In 2008, she received an award from the Georgian Department of Sports and Youth Affairs for her personal contribution to the development of sports medicine in Georgia.
