In 1966, Mariam Balashvili enrolled in the Faculty of Biology at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, graduating with honors in 1971.
In 1983, she defended her Candidate’s Dissertation and was awarded the degree of Candidate of Biological Sciences.
In 2005, she was conferred the academic degree of Doctor of Biology (PhD).
From 1972 to 1975, she was a postgraduate student at the Department of Genetics at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
From 1975 to 2006, she worked as a senior research fellow at the S. Durmishidze Institute of Biochemistry and Biotechnology of the Georgian Academy of Sciences.
From 1996 to 2007, she was a professor at the Faculty of Dentistry at “Gaenati” Secular University of Tbilisi.
From 2000 to 2009, she worked as a senior lecturer at the Georgian State College of Physical Education and Sport.
From 2009 to 2013, she was an invited lecturer at the Georgian Polytechnic-Humanitarian Medical Institute.
In 2014, she joined the State University of Physical Education and Sport of Georgia as an assistant professor, and since 2021 she has held the position of Associate Professor.
Mariam Balashvili has extensive experience in both scientific research in biochemistry and genetics, and in higher education. She has been a member of various academic and scientific institutions and has been actively engaged in both research and teaching. Her professional work is marked by a multidisciplinary approach that integrates biology, medicine, and sports. In her teaching, she emphasizes up-to-date scientific knowledge and the development of students’ practical skills.
