Mr. Merab devoted many years of his professional life to the development of Georgian sport, education, and the university community.
His professional career was closely connected with handball. Over the years, he served as a senior coach, Vice President of the Georgian Handball Federation, and a specialist at the Sports and Tourism Committee of the Parliament of Georgia. He also headed the Olympic Reserve School, held senior positions within the State Department of Sport of Georgia, and served as Chief of the Olympic Preparation Headquarters.
Merab Metreveli also served as President of the Georgian University Sports Federation, led educational institutions, and dedicated many years to the advancement of sports education and professional qualification development.
Since 2015, his professional career had been closely associated with the Georgian State Teaching University of Physical Education and Sport. From 2017 to 2023, he headed the Center for Professional Development and Retraining, and since 2023, he had served as the Head of Administration of the Georgian State University of Sport.
Mr. Metreveli was distinguished by his outstanding professionalism, responsibility, and dedication to his work. He made a significant contribution to the development of the University and sports education in Georgia. His passing is a great loss to the University and to the entire sporting community.
